The thermo‐mechanical response of heat activated shape memory polymers (SMPs) has been investigated using a thermo‐viscoelastic finite element analysis that accounts for external and internal heat sources. SMPs can be thermally stimulated by external heat sources, such as temperature and surface heat flux, or from internal viscous heating. Viscous heating can significantly affect the response of SMP sheets by increasing the temperature during pre‐strain, which accelerates stress relaxation. This stress relaxation results in a slower shrinking rate when the SMP is reheated. Viscous heating also causes an increase in temperatures during unconstrained recovery. The predicted results elucidate how the coupled thermo‐mechanical loading conditions affect folding and unfolding of SMP sheets in response to localized heating in a hinged region. A parametric study of sheet thickness, hinge width, degree of pre‐strain, and hinge surface temperature is also conducted. Capillary zone electrophoresis coupled with a capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detector (CE‐C4D) has been employed for the determination of atenolol and amiloride in pharmaceutical formulations. Acetic acid (150 mm ) was used as background electrolyte. The influence of several factors (detector excitation voltage and frequency, buffer concentration, applied voltage, capillary temperature and injection time) was studied. Non‐UV‐absorbing L‐valine was used as internal standard; the analytes were all separated in less than 7 min. The separation was carried out in normal polarity mode at 28°C, 25 kV and using hydrodynamic injection (25 s). The separation was effected in an uncoated fused‐silica capillary (75 μm, i.d. × 52 cm). The CE‐C4D method was validated with respect to linearity, limit of detection and quantification, accuracy, precision and selectivity. Calibration curves were linear over the range 5–250 μg/mL for the studied analytes. The relative standard deviations of intra‐ and inter‐day migration times and corrected peak areas were less than 6.0%. The method showed good precision and accuracy and was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of atenolol and amiloride in different pharmaceutical tablet formulations. Energy dispersive-X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) is a well spread near-line analytical technique, suitable for easy and rapid measurement of major elements and/or trace elements especially in many different food matrices. This study demonstrates the fitness for purpose of this method to ensure the correct addition of minerals during breakfast cereal production. Indeed, variations in process and in raw material compositions may lead to values out of legal tolerance, and thus quality controls need to be regularly performed to meet the release compliance criteria. Using such analytical technique close to production lines can allow controls that are more systematic as well as avoiding the shipment of numerous samples for reference method analyses often done to external laboratories. Thus, ED-XRF allows to ensure finished products compliance with product declarations. A commercial ED-XRF device was used during this study. Within 7 min of analytical time for two replicates/sample, the developed method gave accurate results for the quantification of Na, Mg, Ca, Fe, and Zn in breakfast cereals without any proportional biases between ED-XRF and reference method (inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry) results. 相似文献

A novel chemosensor, namely 3‐(4‐chlorophenyl)‐1‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)prop‐2‐en‐1‐one, CPPEO, and its metal complexes have been synthesized and characterized by using sets of chemical and spectroscopic techniques, such as elemental analysis, mass, Fourier transform‐infrared and UV–Vis spectral analysis. The thermal properties of the metal complexes have been investigated by thermogravimetric techniques. The decomposition mechanism of the titled complexes was suggested. The results showed that the Co2+ and Mn2+ complexes have an octahedral geometry, while Zn2+ and Cd2+ complexes have tetrahedral geometry. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the thermal decomposition stages have been evaluated using the Coats–Redfern method. The optical sensing response of the investigated chemosensor to the different metal ions was investigated. It responds well to the tested metal ions as reflected from the significant change in both absorption and emission spectra upon adding different concentrations of the metal salts, confirming the intramolecular charge transfer of the chemosensor upon effective coordination with the used metal ions. This leads to enhancing ICT interaction, causing a significant shift in the presence of strongly complexing metal ions. This was fully reversible, where the solution of dye‐metal ion complex was decomplexed by adding an EDTA solution to revert the original spectrum of the dye. The stability constants, K, for the complexes of the investigated chemosensor with the mentioned metal ions were calculated, indicating that Co2+ is the most effectively detected, and the potential of the novel dye was highly efficient switchers for Co2+ ions. Additionally, the molecular modeling was carried out for the chemosensor and its metal complexes. Finally, the solid complexes have been tested for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against some bacterial strains (Gram +ve and Gram ?ve bacteria), as well as antifungal strains. 相似文献

In this Letter we investigate the electronic properties of the bulk and the nanofilm BeO in wurtzite structure. We performed a first-principles pseudo-potential method within the generalized gradient approximation. We will give more importance to the changes in band structure and density of states between the bulk structure and its derived nanofilms. The bonding characterization will be investigated via the analysis Mulliken population and charge density contours. It is found that the nanofilm retains the same properties as its bulk structure with slight changes in electronic properties and band structure which may offer some unusual transport properties. 相似文献

Comparison arguments are applied to derive decreasing sequences of upper solutions and increasing sequences of lower solutions for a class of nonlinear elliptic equations. The monotonicity of the two sequences is proven. These polynomial sequences are obtained by applying new algorithms and solving linear differential equations. The obtained upper and lower solutions are analytic and have closed forms. Different examples are presented to explore the effectiveness of the new algorithms. The presented ideas and algorithms can be extended to deal with different classes of equations. 相似文献

The crosslinking of poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomers and coatings by the thermal curing of poly(dimethylsiloxane‐co‐methylvinylsiloxane) and 1,12‐diazido‐dodecane was studied. This crosslinking pathway relies on the cycloaddition of azides and alkenes as well as the thermal generation of nitrene transient radicals, which react with alkenes, yielding respectively 1,2,3‐triazoline and aziridine crosslinking knots. The influence of temperature and the ratio of azide and vinyl functionalities has been investigated by rheological, swelling, and insoluble fraction measurements for materials crosslinked in bulk and by comparison of the thickness before and after extraction of the soluble materials by soxhlet extraction for the crosslinked coatings. The preparation of highly crosslinked PDMS‐based elastomers and coatings has been demonstrated, even if the fraction of elastically effective crosslinks in bulk remained below 160 mol/m3. Advantageously, this system does not require additional initiator or catalyst, is not sensitive to moisture or oxygen, and can be extended to a wide range of unsaturated polymers as well as different organic or inorganic solid substrates. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
